I'm excited to share this meal with you today and the toughest part? Deciding if I should call it a noodle bowl or noodle salad... so I opt'd for Teriyaki Noodles and I'm going to let you decide!
Why? Because the first time I made this we grilled some shrimp to top off the bowl and subsequent servings were simply big bowls of noodles. Then I served them cold and I realized these noodles would be fantastic as a salad for a cookout on a hot summer day too. No mayo - perfect for a buffet - so you see? That was my dilemma!
Teriyaki Noodle Bowl - The noodle bowl is mixed with green onions, shredded carrots and snow peas. Topped with sesame seeds and cilantro.
Teriyaki noodles are always a favorite for take out, but do you know how easy they are to make at home? So simple and delicious and definitely a hundred times yummier!
Now... I'm not going to lie, this dish isn't completely authentic because I use ... {gasp}.... thin spaghetti noodles. Why? Because I like that I can use whole grain noodles which are high in fiber. So please, use your favorite!
Shopping list for Teriyaki Noodles
- thin spaghetti
- soy sauce
- sesame oil
- brown sugar
- onions
- garlic
- ginger
- cilantro
- snow peas
- sesame seeds
- carrots
The sauce for the noodles is super easy to make too - you'll find the recipe here; Teriyaki Noodle Sauce Recipe Normally I'd suggest store bought as a shortcut, but in this case I'm going to encourage you to make this sauce. It's actually on my site as a marinade, but it's delicious on these noodles. It's super versatile and so much better than store bought. It takes less than five minutes to put everything together - let me show you how easy it is!
How do you make teriyaki sauce?
- add soy sauce and sesame oil to a large measuring cup
- add the brown sugar
- slice the onions
- mince garlic
- grate the fresh ginger
- add everything to the cup and whisk together well
See? Simple right? 🍜 This bowl is SO GOOD!
I promise you're going to love these noodles.
Is Teriyaki salty?
- Yes it can be, but I suggest you use low sodium soy sauce, to reduce the sodium.
Is hoisin sauce the same as teriyaki sauce?
- Not at all, so be sure to use teriyaki sauce.

Noodles are life - you know what I mean?!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Now if you're looking for a meaty meal then by all means use the excess teriyaki sauce to marinade your favorite protein, but if you'd like to keep this a lighter meal, toss in cup of edamame, sliced avocado and a handful of peanuts or sautéed mushrooms - these noodles are dynamite and I know you're going to absolutely love them!
If you want to make this more of a pasta salad, add sliced strawberries and mango, diced cucumber and slices of red, yellow or orange bell pepper and serve chilled, YUM!
Or do what I did, serve it just like the recipe - light, simple flavors!

Teriyaki Noodles
Teriyaki Noodles
Ingredients
- 16 oz. thin spaghetti (I used whole grain noodles)
- 1 cup Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 cup snow peas tips removed, sliced on the diagonal
- 1 bunch green onions sliced on the diagonal
- 2 carrots shredded
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- ½ cup cilantro loosely chopped
Instructions
- Put a pot of water on to boil. When it comes to a rolling boil, cook the thin spaghetti according to package directions to al dente.
- While the water is boiling and noodles are cooking, prepare the vegetables.
- Slice the snow peas and onions.
- Shred the carrots and loosely chop the cilantro.
- Mix the teriyaki sauce. Remove one cup, reserve the remaining sauce for another use.
- Drain the noodles and rinse with cold water.
- Add the vegetables reserving a small amount of the onions and cilantro for garnish.
- Toss with the sauce - garnish with the remaining vegetables.
