Deb's tips

  • For easy clean up spray your slow cooker well with nonstick cooking spray or use a slow cooker liner if you prefer. As the sticky sauce because be messy.
  • And for an extra veggie boost add bell peppers, bean sprouts, broccoli florets, or snap peas to the slow cooker at the last hour of cooking time.
  • Instead of store-bought sauce you can use your own homemade teriyaki sauce instead.
  • I love to serve this dish over a bowl of rice, you can serve it with brown rice, white rice, or even cauliflower rice.
  • The safe temperature for chicken is 165 degrees f. So, if you are unsure if it's done, give your chicken a quick check with a meat thermometer.

Variations

  • Switch out the chicken breasts for boneless skinless chicken thighs instead.
  • Add a little more by adding a dash of rice wine vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, garlic powder, or ginger.
  • If you want to add a little spice to this recipe, you can add a dash or red pepper flakes.

Storage

Refrigerate - Store leftover teriyaki chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Freezer - You can also freeze the cooked chicken in a freezer safe bag or container for up to three months.

Reheat - Reheat individual portions in the microwave on 50% power for 1-2 minutes or until warm all the way through.
