Meal planning and prepping tips

If you're new here...

Every week, I share a free meal plan for you to use the following week. You'll have seven main dish recipes, along with  a few extras and of course dessert.

Typically the weekly meal plans are named by number of the week and date. For example, if the plan is for the first week of January, I'll name it Weekly Meal Plan 1 - Jan 3-9. Next year the plans will be updated for the corresponding dates and tasty new recipes!

Don't forget - if you have a busy day and plan on eating out, just drop a day off the menu and adjust the meal plan to fit YOUR busy life!

Weekly Meal Plan 25 - shortcuts and tips

  • Sunday - Father's Day Menu! Make a great meal your Dad will love and spend some quality time with your Pop while you make this easy menu! If there's leftovers (or you grilled an extra Tri tip) it makes the BEST sandwiches all week long!
  • Bow Tie Pasta Salad & Antipasto Pasta Salad - both delicious and perfect for lunches during the week!
  • Green Chile Casserole - Make two and freeze one for the days you don't want to cook!

Stretch your budget

I have a few money saving tips for you today. This might sounds silly.... but when it comes to food, only buy what you know you'll eat.

How many times do you throw away spoiled food because it didn't get consumed in time? I'm guilty of it too and I hate it when that happens! Having a plan for your purchases ensures they will be enjoyed and not tossed.

Using less meat and adding more rice, beans and vegetables will help you save money as well. Shop the farmers market and buy what's in season - it's fresher and has more flavor than store bought fruit and vegetables.

  • Apples, berries and grapes, will last longer if kept in their original packaging and stored in the crisper of your fridge.
  • Do not wash berries until you're ready to use them, they mold quickly when they are damp.
  • Perforated plastic bags help keep fruit fresh longer by releasing moisture.

Got a tip for me? Please comment below, I'd love to hear it!
