FAQ's

Can I make these in a skillet instead?

If you don't have an air fryer you can also make these crispy tacos in a large skillet! Just heat some vegetable oil over medium-high heat and cook the tacos until golden brown on both sides.

Why do I need to spray the tortillas?

Spraying the tortillas with oil allows them to crisp up and gives an extra crunchy shell.

Can you put taco shells in the air fryer?

Yes, the air fryer does a great job of heating taco shells and making them crispy.

Deb's tips

  • Make sure that you preheat your air fryer as this will the shells to crisp up nicely.
  • It's important that you don't overload the air fryer basket, you will need to place the tacos in a single layer so that they crisp up nicely.
  • I prefer to use an olive oil spray for tacos, as it adds flavor and helps the shells to crisp up. But, you could also use avocado oil instead.
  • Use your taco toppings to make these easy air fryer tacos perfect for your family.
  • A squeeze of fresh lime juice inside your taco and a dollop of sour cream or guacamole on top make these tacos even more irresistible.
  • Don't skip the step of warming the tortillas before you stuff them with your favorite taco fillings. Warm tortillas are easier to fold and will give you nice and crispy shells every time.

Variations

  • You can use any type of taco meat that your family enjoys. We prefer ground beef, but you could use ground turkey or even chicken instead if you prefer.
  • I prefer to use soft corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas but you can switch them out for soft flour tortillas if you prefer.
  • if you prefer your tacos on the spicy side you can add chili powder or red pepper flakes to your taco meat, and add a splash or two of hot sauce to the meat.

Storage

Refrigerate -  You can store the air fryer tacos in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Freezer - Place the cooked tacos in a freezer bag or wrap them tightly with aluminum foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw before reheating.

Reheat - To reheat the tacos, preheat your oven to 375°F, place them on a baking sheet, and heat in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until heated through. You can also use an air fryer set at 350°F for 2-3 minutes or until warm.

Give it another look Rena; it says four, not flour tortillas. You can certainly use flour if you'd prefer! I hope you give the recipe a try, enjoy!
