Yes, you can make this dip ahead of time. When you're ready to serve, let it come to room temperature before serving.

You can make this dish vegetarian by using plant based meat crumbles instead of ground beef. For vegan you will need to use dairy free cheese and the plant based crumbles.

If you want to give this taco dip a little bit of a kick, you can add some diced jalapeno peppers or hot sauce.

Why is my taco dip runny?

It can get runny if it sits too long. Assemble it about an hour before serving.

Variations

  • Add black beans for extra protein.
  • Use ground turkey or ground chicken instead of beef.
  • Swap the cheddar cheese for pepper jack or queso blanco.
  • Garnish with diced avocado, diced jalapeños, green onions or your favorite toppings.

Refrigerate - Store this dip in an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to three days.  However, be careful because the dip can become runny in the fridge after a day or two.
