FAQ's

Can I bake frozen raw cheese sausage balls?

Yes! Place the frozen raw sausage balls in the oven at 350F and increase the cooking time by 2-4 minutes.

Will these sausage balls taste differently if I use another ground meat?

Pork is naturally fatty so if you do opt to use leaner meat such as ground chicken or ground turkey, it will alter the taste slightly but will still be delicious!

Are the cheese sausage balls gluten-free?

This depends on what baking mix is used. There are gluten-free Bisquick options as well as gluten-free pancake mix options to choose from in-store and online.

Top Tip

Use a small cookie scoop to make the balls. That way, they are a uniform size and cook evenly. Have a mug of warm water to dip the cookie scoop into - this will help prevent the meat mixture from sticking.

  • Lightly oil your hands when rolling the sausage balls. It will keep them from sticking to your hands.
  • Keep them snack-ready for your party by placing the sausage balls in a slow cooker on low or warm.

Storage

Refrigerate - The cream cheese sausage balls store well in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Freezer - Transfer these sausage balls (cooked or uncooked) to a tray to flash freeze and then store them in a Ziploc bag or airtight container for up to 3 months.

Reheat - Leftover sausage balls can be reheated at 300F for 30 minutes in a covered baking dish in the oven.

This recipe can be used to make smaller or larger sausage balls, but you’ll need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.

This recipe sounds delicious. I tried the 3 ingredient sausage meatball recipe and they came out dry. I wasn’t impressed with that recipe. Can’t wait to try yours, sounds delicious and won’t be dry.👍🏼👍🏼
