    FAQ's

What are wrapped hot dogs called?

There are a few different names for these wrapped hot dogs. Some people call them Crescent Roll Hot Dogs, while others call them a Mummy Dog or Pigs in a Blanket. All three names are perfectly acceptable!

Can I prep pigs in a blanket the night before?

Unfortunately, these hot dogs are best when they're fresh out of the oven. However, you can prepare them ahead of time and then bake them right before you're ready to serve.

Can pigs in a blanket be frozen?

Pigs in a blanket can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge overnight. However, they will not taste as good as if you had made them fresh.

How do you keep pigs in a blanket warm without getting soggy?

The best way to keep pigs in a blanket warm is to place them on a baking sheet and put them in a 200-degree preheated oven. This will help to keep them warm and prevent them from getting soggy until you are ready to serve.

    Things to know

In case you didn't know, I'm a big fan of hot dogs! Here are some of my best tips to make this yummy meal even tastier!

    • Purchase GOOD quality hot dogs - all beef dogs are the way to go!
    • If you don't have a nonstick baking sheet, you can use parchment paper to line your pan for easy cleanup.
    • You can tell your crescent roll pigs in a blanket are done by the fact that they are golden brown and firm.
    • When rolling the hot dogs I like to keep about an inch of the ends unwrapped.

    Variations

    • Top them with chili for a chili cheese dog bake!
    • Instead of a crescent roll dough, you can use refrigerated biscuit dough as well for the perfect appetizer.
    • Not a fan of American cheese? use cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese slice.
    • You can make these in the air fryer also, by cooking them at  400 degrees for 5-7 minutes.

    Storage

Refrigerate -  Store these in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freeze - You can freeze these before or after cooking. Just wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They will last in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Reheat - To reheat, place them on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
