- Clean the strawberries, remove the stems and dice, and add to a bowl.

- Add the remaining ingredients and stir well to combine.
- Serve and enjoy either as a dip or condiment. This is one terrific salsa!
How to clean strawberries
When you're ready to use the berries, you'll want to make sure they are cleaned well.
- Wash them in a vinegar/water solution. One part vinegar to eight parts water. Swish them around well and then rinse them again in cool water.
- Next remove the stem. There's lots of fancy contraptions for this but frankly, I use a knife or in a pinch... my thumbnail.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)
Choose plump, red strawberries. Orange or slightly green strawberries will be less sweet. Pick through and discard any spoiled fruit.
Leave the stem on, and do not wash the berries until you're ready to use them; they will last longer.
Yes, refrigerate the berries. Place the berries in the refrigerator in vegetable drawer - the cooler the better!
Surprisingly, yes! Cover it tightly, and it will keep in the freezer for up to three months. However, it won't be as bright and pretty as when the fruit is fresh. Freezing breaks down the strawberries and makes them a little mushy.

When you bring the strawberries home, place the strawberries right into the fridge. Don't wash them until you're ready to use them! The key to fresh strawberries is removing moisture and keeping them dry!

OR .....perfect to top lemon pepper chicken or great grilled pork tenderloin - even fabulous over grilled trout!

As I said in another comment on your blog - you are so lucky to have access to great fruits and vegetables year round. Our Farmers Markets are only in Summer. I adore this recipe and wish I'd come up with the idea first!!! Ha ha. It truly is beautiful and so well done.
Debra Clark says
That is high praise coming from you Patty! 😀 And yes, I am so lucky to live here - when I lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota things were much different when the produce had to be shipped hundreds of miles before it was received in our stores. You just cook in a different way - that works too! 😀
