FAQ's

Can you freeze pretzel treats?

Yes, these candies freeze great!

How long do dipped m&m hugs last?

They will stay crunchy and fresh up to two weeks when they are kept refrigerated1

Can you use mini round pretzels?

Yes! This recipe uses butter snaps which are delicious but you can use any shape of mini pretzels.

Tips

  • Don't overcook the chocolate. You just need them melted just enough to lightly press the m&m into the chocolate.
  • Be sure to use a Silpat or parchment paper to line the cookie sheet or the pretzel m&m hugs will stick to the baking sheet.
  • Rather than allow the chocolate to harden at room temperature, freeze or refrigerate until the chocolate is completely set or the candies will smudge.
  • Hershey's kisses come in a pack of 65, so if you want to make a big batch, get two bags!

Variations

Vary the candy kisses that you use! Chocolate, dark chocolate or peppermint, or candy cane kisses - are all delicious!

You can use any variety of mini pretzels, square, round or mini pretzel shapes

You can use regular or peanut butter m&m's.

These would be perfect for Valentine's Day using pink and red m&m's or Halloween using black, orange, yellow and brown candies.

Storage

Refrigerate - Place in an airtight container and refrigerate.

Freeze - Place the candies in a container with wax paper or parchment paper between the layers and freeze for up to three months.

Reece's Pieces would work. You could also use jelly beans, those would be yummy!

I think they would ship just fine, I'd be more concerned about the weather. If it's hot the chocolates will definitely melt. Other than that, I think you're good!

Will be in a Christmas priority box - traveling from Texas to Ohio; wrapped with a cold pack and foil and box insolated with styrofoam.
I just know that my brother would love these.

I tried making these and the kisses wouldn’t melt. My recipe said to bake at 250°till the kisses were sweating. That never happened and they were over cooked and fell apart when I added the m&m. Looked so simple!

Eileen, I'm sorry the recipe you followed didn't work, but it wasn't this one! This one has an oven temperature of 200 degrees and you set a timer for how long the chocolates go in the oven and nothing about the chocolates "sweating". Next time try this recipe. It works and it's fabulous! Happy Holidays!
