  • Oreo cookies - I used the chocolate ones, but you could use Golden Oreo cookies too.
  • cream cheese
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate melting wafers
  • vegetable oil
  • pretty sprinkles

Creative variations to try

You can switch up the chocolate that you dip these Oreo balls in, you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate chips.

White chocolate candy melts or melted white chocolate can also be used also.

Instead of sprinkles, you could also top these with chopped nuts, more crushed Oreo cookies, or even chocolate drizzle.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

Do I need to take the stuffing out of the Oreo's?

No, for this recipe you will want to leave the stuffing in the Oreo cookies.

Why are my Oreo balls falling apart?

That may mean that they are not cold enough, return them to the freezer for another 15 minutes before dipping again.

Can I use a blender instead of a food processor for Oreo balls?

Yes, a high powered blender can also be used to crush the cookies, but you'll need to pulse until they are fine crumbs. It would be best to work in batches. If you don't have a processor, you can use a rolling pin and a freezer bag to crush the cookies into fine crumbs instead.

Deb's tips for the perfect Oreo truffles

For easy mixing, ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature before mixing the dough.

  • Instead of melting the chocolate in the microwave, you could also use the double boiler method to keep the chocolate warm.
  • Though you could transfer the crumbles into a bowl and use a hand mixer to combine, using the food processor saves a step.
  • Adding a tablespoon of coconut oil to the mixture makes the chocolate smoother.

How to store leftovers

Refrigerate - Store the no bake Oreo balls in an airtight container for up to one week.

Freezer - Store in a freezer safe bag for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw in the fridge before serving.
