FAQ's

How long can a peeled banana last?

Once peeled a banana will last for several hours, however it may turn brown.

Can you eat a brown banana?

Absolutely! The more brown the banana is, the sweeter it will taste.

Will a milkshake melt in the fridge?

Yes, it will melt in refrigerator. Have extra? Store in an airtight container in the freezer.

Things to know

  • Once you make the banana milkshake recipe, be sure to top it and serve immediately!
  • Adding ice will not make it any colder, it will only dilute the shake.
  • In a pinch you can use a food processor, but a blender will be easier to make the milkshake in.
  • If you prefer a thick milkshake, simply add less milk.
  • If you have an old banana with brown spots, don't toss it! Peel, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze. A frozen banana works great in this recipe.

How to ripen bananas

If you need to ripen bananas, there are several ways.

  • Place the bananas in a paper bag and leave on the counter for a couple of days.
  • Prick the peel several times with a fork, place in the microwave and cook on high at 30 second intervals until it's soft.
  • Bake in the oven at 300 degrees until the peels are black. Be sure to put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. They may ooze a bit and the lining will make cleanup a breeze.
  • Air Fryer - place bananas (unpeeled) in the basket, set to 300 degrees for about 8 minutes.

If you use the microwave, air fryer or oven method, be sure you allow the bananas to cool off before handling them!

Oooh! And if you have any leftover bananas, be sure to make some banana bread!

Variations
