Spook-tacular ingredients you'll need

For the exact measurements, please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Eight hot dogs.
  • Crescent roll dough or sheet; you can also use puff pastry.
  • For the eyes you can use - candy eyes, sliced black olives or sliced green olives with pimentos.

Frighteningly fun variations to try

  • You can add a slice of cheese to each one of these hot dog mummies before you wrap them if you prefer a cheesy dog. Place them cheese side down on your prepared baking sheet.
  • Make these into mini dogs by cutting the regular hot dogs into small pieces or by using little smokies.
  • Homemade pizza dough or store-bought pizza dough makes great mummy wrap as well.

Where can I buy candy eyeballs?

You can order candy eyes online, or you can pick them up at your local grocery store in the baking aisle or craft store.

🧟 Deb's trick-or-treat tips

Don't add the eyes until these adorable crescent-wrapped mummy dogs are baked. The heat of the oven will cause the eyes to ooze. Additionally, if you refrigerate the frankfurters with the eyes on them, they soften. Remove them before storing them.

  • I like to use a pizza cutter to cut the strips of dough, however, you can use a sharp knife instead if you prefer.
  • If you don't want to line your cookie sheet with parchment paper you can use nonstick cooking spray instead or even a silicone baking mat.
  • Are you using regular crescent rolls? Don't forget to press perforations closed before you start to cut the strip of dough.

👹 Keep your mummies fresh: storage

Refrigerate - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days, be sure to remove the eyes before refrigerating.

Freezer - You can freeze these for up to three months. Allow them o thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Reheat - To reheat, simply place on a baking sheet and heat at 375 degrees until warmed through. You can also heat it in the microwave for 30-60 seconds.
