Sloppy Joe Dip

Like the Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread Casserole, this is SO GOOD and easy to make! It's always a crowd-pleaser. It's different from your typical game-day fare, which makes it a great dip for the big game.

You only need simple ingredients for this easy sloppy joe dip. It's like the cheesier version of a sloppy Joe!

All the ingredients needed to make recipe, with print overlay.

Ingredients you’ll need

For the exact measurements, please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • lean ground beef - I use a leaner meat like ground chuck, but if you use an 80/20 mixture just be sure to drain the excess fat.
  • bell pepper - you can use green bell pepper, red, orange, or yellow!
  • diced onion
  • Montreal steak seasoning
  • catsup
  • brown sugar
  • yellow mustard
  • beef broth or chicken broth if you'd prefer.
  • cheddar cheese

Variations

  • If you want a little heat, you can add a teaspoon or two of chili powder, cayenne pepper, or crushed red pepper flakes to the sloppy joe mixture.
  • For a fun twist, you can top the dip with chopped green onions or jalapeños.
  • Instead of ground beef, you can use ground turkey or ground chicken.
  • Add more flavor to this delicious dip by adding garlic powder or worcestershire sauce.

Sloppy Joe fans are going to love this recipe! I like to serve this dip with crackers, bagel chips, toasted baguette slices, Ruffles potato chips(they are a little heartier than some of the other brands), tortilla chips, corn chips, and raw vegetables. YUM!!

Deb’s tips for the perfect dip

If you are serving this baked dip for a party, use your crockpot. Cook as directed, but add to the slow cooker and top with cheese. Set to warm. Add the lid to melt the cheese and enjoy! Great for tailgating!

  • If you are using extra-lean ground beef, you may need to add a small amount of olive oil or cooking oil to your skillet to prevent the meat from sticking.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled if you are serving a larger crowd.
