Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Do I need to use a wire rack?

Yes, it is best to cook the eggs on a wire rack so that they cook evenly on all sides.

What size eggs can I use?

You can use large or extra-large eggs for this recipe.

How many eggs can I cook at one time?

This depends on the size of your air fryer. With a large air fryer, you can cook up to 6 eggs at a time. Just be sure to not overcrowd the air fryer basket.

What is the easiest way to peel hard boiled eggs?

There are several methods, but my favorite easy way to peel hard boiled eggs is under running water. Or using an ice bath.

Why does my yolk have a green line around it?

A yolk with a green line around it is still safe to eat. However, that means it was cooked too long or at too high of a temperature.

Top Tip

Good to know 👉 Your eggs may have brown spots on them. That does not mean that the eggs are bad. It is just from the hot air!

  • Different air fryers cook differently so the cook time may vary. Start with a test batch to check the cooking time for the egg yolk for the hard-boiled eggs recipe.
  • If cooking more than 6 eggs, you will need to cook in batches.
  • The ice bath is important to prevent the eggs from overcooking, and it helps them peel better. So, don't forget your bowl of cold water to cool the eggs down quickly.
  • Because you are using hot air instead of boiling water, your eggs are less likely to crack, making these hard-boiled eggs perfect to use for Easter Eggs!
  • Be sure to place the eggs in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Do not stack the eggs in the basket, you will need to cook in batches if you have more eggs.
  • Fresh eggs are harder to peel than older eggs. Using a damp paper towel, will help get those pesky peels off easier.

Storage

Refrigerate - Store the eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Freezer - You can freeze the hard-boiled eggs, but they will not be as flavorful. Store them in an airtight container for up to four months.

Reheat - To reheat, place them back in the air fryer basket and heat them on low or 250 degrees for a few minutes.
