    Creative variations to try

A nice variation is placing the pecan on the chocolate before baking. Then, when you bake the turtles, the nut gets lightly roasted - YUM!!! Or just toast pecans first.

I've also sliced a marshmallow in half and placed the sticky side down on the pretzel. Bake for 2-3 minutes until the marshmallow begins to melt, then top with the candy and back in the oven it goes. It's a sticky, delicious, salty-sweet bite!

Instead of Rolo's, you could also use substitute Caramel Hershey's Kisses.

    Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

    Can I double this recipe?

Yes, you can easily double or triple the Rolo Turtle Recipe. Just be sure to use a larger baking sheet or bake in two batches.

How can I give these as gifts?

Place them on parchment or food-grade tissue paper inside a gift box.

What kind of pretzel are best?

For classic turtle pretzels use plain snap pretzels. I do not recommend the mustard flavored snaps. Salty pretzels are the bomb! I like the Snyder's of Hanover brand.

Deb's tips for the perfect dish

Don't overbake them. You want the chocolate to soften, not completely melt.

    • If you don't have parchment paper, you can use a silicone baking mat.
    • Give these a festive touch by drizzling them with melted red and green candy melts or a dash of holiday sprinkles.
