FAQ's

Why do you add oil to the chocolate chips?

The oil helps thin out the chocolate so it's easier to dip the balls.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes! These will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

What is the difference between white chocolate and almond bark?

Almond bark is made from fats, sugar, and flavors. it does not contain chocolate. White chocolate is made with cocoa butter, milk solids, and sugar.

Things to know

  • Make sure that your butter is completely at room temperature otherwise, it will not cream together well with the other ingredients.
  • If you want your snowballs to be extra smooth, make sure to use creamy peanut butter.
  • Do not skip the freezing step! This helps the balls firm up so they don't fall apart when you dip them in the chocolate.
  • The key to getting a smooth coating is to work quickly. Dip each ball and then place it back on the wax paper.
  • If the candy coating starts to thicken up, reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds. I recommend using holiday sprinkles or chopped peanuts to decorate these.
  • A double boiler can also be used to melt the chocolate instead of melting chocolate in the microwave. That way melted white chocolate will stay warm while you are dipping the no bake peanut butter snowballs.
  • Like the Snowman Soup, these make great holiday gifts!

Variations

  • Instead of dipping these peanut butter balls into white chocolate, you could dip them in milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or dark chocolate.
  • You could also add ½ cup of crushed graham cracker crumbs or Rice Krispies to this batter for a little extra flavor.
  • In place of the peanut butter, you can use Nutella or other nut butter like almond butter, or cashew butter for this sweet treat.
  • If you don't have white chocolate on hand you can use white candy melts instead for these delicious treats.
  • Instead of adding sprinkles to the top of these, you can use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle chocolate on the top of these delectable bites.
  • A dash of vanilla extract can add additional flavor to the peanut butter mixture in this no bake recipe.
  • You can use crunchy peanut butter for this simple recipe if you want to add a little extra crunch.
  • Melted coconut oil can be used in place of vegetable oil.

Storage

Refrigerate - Store the snowballs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Freeze - You can also freeze these for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
