FAQ's
Allow this green onion dip to shine by enjoying it with simple seasoned kettle-cooked chips, plain potato chips, or tortilla chips.
They definitely are! You can eat every part of green onion. Just make sure that you wash your green onions wel.
Yes, they are! There is no difference between scallions and green onion, it merely depends on how they are labeled in your local grocery store.
Tips
- For a low-carb appetizer, serve this dip with vegetables such as cut down and sliced large carrots or baby carrots, sliced cucumber, or even crispy Romaine lettuce leaves.
- When storing leftover dip in the refrigerator, make sure to cover it tightly with plastic wrap otherwise it could absorb odors from other strong smelling foods in the fridge.
- Have leftover dip but not enough to enjoy as a dipping appetizer? Small amounts of leftover dip can easily be used as sandwich fillers, as pasta sauce, as a topping to baked potato, or as a pizza sauce base.
Variations
- Some green onion dips call for sour cream. You could use sour cream in place of the Greek yogurt or cream cheese. That would be a much more rich sauce.
- While sriracha sauce offers a mild heat to this dip, if you’d enjoy an extra kick of heat then consider adding in some cayenne pepper.
- Sliced fresh chives or caramelized onions mixed into the dip adds delicious onion flavor!
- Instead of a green onion dip, consider combining red, yellow, and green onions with shallots for an all-inclusive onion dip! Wouldn't that be pretty for a holiday dip?!!
- Stir in a tablespoon of French onion soup for even more delicious
Storage
Refrigerator: This can be made up to two days in advance. It keeps in the fridge for 3-4 days.
I do not recommend freezing this recipe.
