FAQ's
The key to a great Smashburger is in the name- you want to make sure you smash it! This creates a nice crust on the outside of the burger that seals in all the juices and flavors.
A regular burger is usually just cooked on a grill or in a pan, while a smash burger is smashed onto the grill or into the pan giving it a crispy crust.
To make the sauce, simply mix together all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Then, just refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
Things to know
- Make this creamy sauce ahead in a storage container for up to a week in the fridge.
- Before you use your sauce, give it a good stir to make sure it hasn't settled.
- If you don't have smoked paprika on hand, you can use regular paprika instead.
- An 80/20 mix of ground beef is my choice for a burger. I love a good grilled burger patty, then topped with melty American cheese, maybe a little red onion and some sweet pickles. Slather the top of the bun with this special sauce - AMAZING!
Variations
- A splash of Tabasco sauce or Sriracha sauce adds a nice zing to the burger sauce!
- For a little bit of sweetness, try adding a teaspoon or two of honey.
- If you want a creamier sauce, add some sour cream or Greek yogurt.
Storage
Refrigerate - Store the Smashburger sauce in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Freeze - I do not recommend freezing this sauce as mayonnaise does not freeze well.
