Texas Roadhouse honey butter

I took a jar of this to my niece's house last time we visited. Along with some fresh baked banana bread. We enjoyed a cup of coffee and chatted while feasting on this treat. She was so appreciative!

It's perfect with rolls, on toast and muffins, scones etc. I bet you'll love it as much as we do!

  • Unsalted room temperature butter - However you can use salted butter, just omit the added salt.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)

Can you substitute calorie free sweetener for the powdered sugar?

You can substitute a zero calorie powdered sugar, however the resulting butter will not be silky smooth. I would not substitute the honey.

Is this a compound butter?

Yes it is. Compound butter is simply unsalted butter mixed with other ingredients and this Texas Roadhouse butter is no exception. It uses cinnamon and honey with powdered sugar as the main flavor contributors.

Top Tip

Use real butter and real powdered sugar! The results will not be the same if you use a margarin or a low calorie substitute for the powdered sugar.

  • Leave the butter out overnight. That way it's super easy to mix together and will get ultra silky smooth!
  • For best results use a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, or a hand mixer.
  • Make a double batch! You'll be surprised how quickly this will disappear. Because it freezes well, you can make a double-batch and pop the extra cinnamon butter in the freezer!

How to store leftovers

It can be left on the counter up to three days. The butter is best served at room temperature.

  • Refrigerator - store in an airtight container or cover with plastic wrap.Refrigerate up to two weeks.
  • Freezer - I recommend a plastic airtight container for the freezer. If you place it in glass and then freeze, the expansion of the solids may crack the glass as it freezes. It will last well sealed up to three months frozen.

I will be making this honey butter recipe tonight. That Texas Roadhouse butter is so good, and I've tried recreating it but never get it quite right. I've been missing the powered sugar!

If you place in refrigerator does this butter harden?

Yes, it will harden if refrigerated. Additionally, I've spread it on plastic wrap, rolled it into a log, and refrigerated it (or freeze). Then you can slice off the amount you need. It works really well!

Tasted great! Had just a little bit too much honey though, I would recommend 1.5 tablespoons or so.
