Ingredients

  • 3 cups white chocolate chips
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • pinch of salt
  • ¾ cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes half for mixing, half for sprinkling on top
  • red food coloring for a swirl of festive flair - totally optional

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each round, until the mixture is silky smooth. (Usually 2-3 rounds does the trick!) Stir in the peppermint extract, pinch of salt, and half of the crushed peppermint candies.
Melted white chocolate mixed with crushed peppermint in a white bowl.
  • To jazz it up, add a few drops of red food coloring and give it a gentle swirl with a toothpick.

  • Pour the fudge into the lined pan and gently press the remaining crushed peppermint into the top.
Crushed peppermint candies sprinkled evenly over the top of the fudge before chilling.
  • Let the fudge set in the fridge for about 2 hours. Once firm, lift it out using the parchment paper. Cut the fudge into squares, and let the holiday cheer begin!

    Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

What kind of white chocolate chips work best?

Use a good-quality white chocolate chip that melts well. Some store brands can get a little cranky (read: clumpy), so if that's the case, toss in a teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening to help smooth things out.

How far in advance can I make this?

Oh, fudge is a planner's best friend! You can make this up to two weeks ahead and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. It keeps beautifully-and even better, it tastes better after a day or two.

Do I have to use food coloring?

Nope! It's totally optional. The fudge is just as tasty without the red swirl, but if you're feelin' fancy or want a little extra "ooh" on the cookie tray, go ahead and swirl it in.

My chocolate seized up and turned into a grainy blob-what happened?!

This usually happens when white chocolate gets overheated. Next time, microwave in short 30-second bursts and stir well each time. OR when water gets into the chocolate. In my experience you can't "fix" it, it's time to throw it out and start over.

    Deb's top tips

For clean, sharp slices every time, use a sharp knife and dip it in hot water first. Wipe it dry, then slice. The warm blade glides through the fudge like a hot knife through… well, fudge. 😄 Repeat the dip-and-wipe between each cut to keep things tidy.

Pretty and fun! I seem to only make fudge for the holidays and this one is certainly holiday worthy. Love the color and the peppermint top.

This is a very creative take on a fudge recipe! I'll have to try this. I like peppermint bark with dark chocolate, so I'm curious to see how this fudge will taste using white chocolate and a lot of the same ingredients. It certainly looks festive.

This is a great idea to add to my cookie trays I give to my neighbors. The fudge will be my center piece and I will place the cookies around the holiday peppermint fudge. Everyone loves a sweet treat! Of course I will also enjoy every bite of this sweet treat!
