What makes this recipe irresistible

It's an easy treat that your kids will love. The salty pretzels pair perfectly with the sweetness of the white chocolate. The best part of this recipe is that kids will love helping you make them.

Ingredients to make the candy recipe. With print overlay.

Ingredients

Please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for the exact measurements.

  • Small pretzels twists (I used Snyder's mini-pretzels).
  • white chocolate chips, almond bark or white candy melts
  • candy eyes or chocolate chips
  • vegetable oil, coconut oil

Creative variations to try

  • Instead of using the mini pretzel twists, you can also use pretzel rods to make spooky ghosts. Use an edible marker to draw eyes and a mouth!
  • You can also give these pretzels a mummy look, by adding any leftover melted candy to a piping bag and piping it over the top.
  • Add some lime green sprinkles for hair or use green candy melts to give these Halloween pretzels a spooky glow!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

How long will chocolate covered pretzels last?

These cute ghost pretzels will last up to 1 week if stored in an airtight container and kept at room temperature.

How far in advance can you make chocolate covered pretzels?

Chocolate-covered pretzels can be made up to 48 hours in advance and stored in an airtight container. Just ensure they are kept at room temperature or the chocolate will melt!

Why are my chocolate covered pretzels not hardening?

If your pretzels are not hardening, it's likely because the temperature of the room is too warm. Try storing them in a cool dry place and let them sit for a few hours before enjoying!

Deb's tips for the perfect dish

I've learned that when dipping sweet treats into melted chocolate, a fork is the best way to dip and remove the excess chocolate without making a mess. Tap it lightly on the side of the bowl and allow the chocolate to drip.

  • I make these pretzels using high-quality white chocolate, like Ghirardelli. The chocolate tastes better and sticks well.
  • Is your chocolate hardening before you finish dipping all your pretzels? Pop it back into the microwave for about 20 seconds then give it a stir and return to dipping.
  • A double boiler can be used to melt the chocolate if you don't like using the microwave. Plus, the double boiler will keep the chocolate melted the entire time you dip the pretzels.

Storage

Refrigerate -  Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Do not refrigerate or freeze or the eyeballs will run or smear.

The oil is added to the white chocolate before it's placed in the microwave. The oil makes the chocolate melt more smoothly, which makes it perfect for dipping!
