Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

What are wrapped hot dogs called?

There are a few different names for these wrapped hot dogs. Some people call them Crescent Roll Hot Dogs, while others call them a Mummy Dog or Pigs in a Blanket. All three names are perfectly acceptable!

Can I prep pigs in a blanket the night before?

You can prepare them beforehand and then bake them right before you're ready to serve. Stuff the hotdogs and refrigerate. Then when you preheat the oven, roll them in crescent rolls and pop them in the oven.

How do you keep pigs in a blanket warm without getting soggy?

The best way to keep pigs in a blanket warm is to place them on a baking sheet and put them in a 200-degree preheated oven. This will help to keep them warm and prevent them from getting soggy until you are ready to serve.

Top Tip

Purchase GOOD quality hot dogs - all beef dogs are the way to go!

In case you didn't know, I'm a big fan of hot dogs! Here are some of my best tips to make this yummy meal even tastier!

  • If you don't have a nonstick baking sheet, you can use parchment paper or aluminum foil to line your pan for easy cleanup.
  • You can tell your crescent roll pigs in a blanket are done when they are golden brown and firm.
  • When rolling the hot dogs I like to keep about an inch of the ends unwrapped.

How to store leftovers

Refrigerate -  Store these in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freeze - You can freeze these before or after cooking. Allow to cool completely. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They will last in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Reheat - To reheat, place them on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
