What makes this recipe irresistible

Copycat recipes take at-home cooking to the next level. They're a great way to make potluck foods and dinners taste gourmet. The famous campfire sauce has so much bold flavor, but you can customize it to your liking.

This easy recipe has the best flavor and comes together in a matter of minutes. I'll bet you already have most of the ingredients!

Red Robin's campfire sauce has an unbeatably creamy texture. So, even though it's a great fry sauce, it also makes an awesome spread for sandwiches, burgers, and wraps. You can even use it as a salad dressing.

Plus, the chili powder adds a bit of heat to the sweet and smokey BBQ sauce, while the mixture of mayo ensures it's not too hot. These versatile flavors pair well with all of the best foods and cuisine styles.

  • Mayonnaise - use your favorite mayonnaise brand.
  • Smokey tangy barbecue sauce
  • Tabasco sauce
  • Chili powder
  • Worcestershire sauce

Creative variations to try

  • You can alter the flavor by choosing a different variety of BBQ sauce.
  • Make it spicier by adding more Tabasco sauce or hot pepper vinegar.
  • If you like more than a little bit of smokiness, feel free to amp it up with a few drops of liquid smoke or chipotle powder.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

Is the sauce at Red Robin Restaurants easy to make?

Yes, it's one of the easiest, most delicious sauces you'll ever make! Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix until smooth.

Do I have to use smoky BBQ sauce?

Nope, feel free to switch it up, but you'll lose the natural smoke flavor that many people love from the popular sauce. To find your favorite, you can experiment with tangy barbeque sauce or Sweet Baby Ray's.

Can I freeze Red Robin's campfire sauce?

No, mayo-based sauces don't freeze well. Mayo tends to separate after thawing and tastes odd.

Deb's tips for the perfect dish

Letting it chill in the fridge allows the flavors to come together, which makes it a more accurate Red Robin campfire sauce copycat recipe.

  • Skip the bowl and stir everything up in an airtight container. The leftover sauce is all ready for storage and you save yourself from extra dishes!
  • You don't need to use a mixer for this recipe-a whisk is all it takes. In fact, over-mixing can make the mayo a bit soupy.

Storage

Refrigerate-Store campfire mayo sauce in an airtight container such as a mason jar or glass storage dish. It'll keep for up to one week. Mayo-based sauces keep best in a warmer part of the fridge, like on the door shelf.
