FAQ's
The dish got its name from the Chinese word bang which means stick, which is what was usually used to tenderize the chicken or shrimp down before the sauce is added.
If you're using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes prior to using.
Top Tip
Trust me, you'll want to double the sauce for this recipe! It's the BEST dipping sauce for the bang bang chicken skewers. You can never have too much sauce if you ask me!!
- Metal skewers spread the temperature evenly throughout the kabob, so they usually need less cooking time than wooden skewers.
- I always recommend that you check the internal temperature of your chicken with an instant-read thermometer this gives you the most accurate results.
Storage
Refrigerate - Store leftover chicken skewers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you make an extra batch of sauce, you can store it in the fridge for up to one week.
Freezer - I love to freeze cooked chicken for easy salads later in the week. For easy storage, I recommend that you remove the chicken from the skewers before storing it in a freezer bag for up to three months.
Reheat - I've found the best way to reheat these skewers is in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes or until warm all the way through.
