What makes this recipe irresistible

The best thing about this quick dessert is that you only need a few simple ingredients. Most of them are pantry staples so you may be able to avoid a trip to the grocery store. Love that!

This is always one of my favorite desserts to make for guests because you can't even tell that you used a box of cake mix to take a shortcut while baking this sweet treat! I call that a win-win!

What you’ll need: ingredients

Please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for the exact measurements.

  • Two 28 ounce cans of peaches (I used light syrup, but you can use heavy syrup if you'd prefer).
  • yellow cake mix
  • butter
  • cinnamon

Creative variations to try

There are several different ways that you can personalize this peach dump cake recipe here are just a few of my favorite recipes:

  • Try adding some caramel sauce to peaches, and then drizzle some over the top of the butter before you bake it for a caramel-inspired cobbler.
  • You can also mix the cinnamon for the topping with brown sugar instead of white sugar to give your topping a nice molasses-flavored crust.
  • This easy cobbler recipe is also great when made with your favorite pie fillings, such as two cans of blueberry or apple pie filling.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

Is cobbler filling the same as a pie filling?

For this recipe, they are not the same. A pie filling usually has sugar and cornstarch added, and for this recipe, we are just using canned peaches in syrup.

What's the difference between a peach cobbler and a crumble?

A cobbler typically has a buttery biscuit-like top, while a crumble has an oat, butter, and sugar topping.

Deb's tips for the perfect dish

When you are grating the butter, make sure to cover the entire top of the cake mix with pieces of butter, so that there are no dry spots in your cobbler topping when it's finished baking.

  • If you want to use fresh peaches, you will need to slice them first, squeeze with fresh lemon and then allow them to sit in sugar to make their own syrup, before using them in the cobbler.
  • You can also use frozen peaches. Be sure to thaw them first. Sprinkle with a couple tablespoons of sugar and allow them to sit and get juicy.
  • Our favorite way to eat this peach cobbler dump cake is with a scoop of ice cream on top while it's still warm! So, yummy!

How to store leftovers
