The following are affiliate links. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
- Medium microwave-safe mixing bowl
- Parchment paper - Because I'm lazy, I buy these in a sheet, rather than a roll. Plus it doesn't roll up on you.
- Baking sheet - I've become quite partial to Caraway products. They are more expensive, but I appreciate clean cooking. And frankly you get what you pay for. (I have yellow and it's gorgeous!)
- Edible ink marker - I like these because there are two tips on the pens and they are easy to use!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
You can absolutely use a different cookie! Of course! Any sturdy cookie will work great in this recipe- you can keep this recipe simple by using store-bought cookies or bake your favorite cookie to use as the base. Just be sure to allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating.
Edible ink pens (affiliate link) are usually found at baking supply stores, but I got this one from Amazon. Black decorating gel is sometimes easier to find, and it will work for this recipe in a pinch, but I find the edible pen so much easier (and less messy) to use.
Deb's tips for the perfect melted snowman cookie
DO NOT refrigerate these cookies. I've learned this the hard way! When working with melted baking chips, any coloring that comes into contact with it (like the dye from the M&M’s and the licorice) will start to spread. It will run into the white chocolate, ruining all the time and effort spent decorating them. Argggghhhh! Don't be a Debbie 😆
- Let your imagination take the driver’s seat! Besides being a kid-friendly and no-bake dessert, decorating is my favorite part of making Melted Snowmen Oreos.
- Some other suggestions for decorations include a top hat, perhaps made of mini-Reese’s cups or ear muffs fashioned from two mini-M&M’s connected by a small strip of licorice. No matter how you decorate these adorable cookies, you can’t help but smile.
- When you slice the marshmallows in half, make them a little off-kilter. It gives them a great personality!
How to store leftovers
Store cookies at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Do not store these cookies in the refrigerator or freezer as it will cause the coloring of decorations to run into the white chocolate.

Melted Snowman Oreos
Equipment
- Medium microwave-safe mixing bowl
- Parchment Paper
- baking sheet
Ingredients
- 18 Oreos
- 11 ounces white baking chips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 9 marshmallows cut in half
- Mini M&M’s
- Black edible ink
- Orange sprinkles
- Thin licorice rope I used Twizzlers Pull & Peel
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and evenly place the Oreos about 2-2½ inches apart. Set aside.
- In a medium, microwave-safe bowl, melt the baking chips at 30 second intervals. Stir well until completely smooth.
- Add 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil to the melted white baking chips, and stir well until thoroughly combined.
- Spoon the melted white chocolate over each Oreo cookie, allowing it to slightly drip over the sides.
- While the icing is still wet, place a cut marshmallow to one side of the top of the cookie, and add 2-3 mini-M&M “buttons” along the icing.
- Allow the cookies to rest at room temperature for 2 hours or until the white chocolate is completely hardened. Do not place the cookies to harden in the refrigerator!
- Once the icing has set, decorate the snowman’s head. Using the black edible ink, dot on some eyes and a mouth onto the marshmallow. Push an orange sprinkle “nose” into the marshmallow.
- Draw stick-shaped arms onto the hardened white chocolate covering the cookie.
- Tie the scarf around the base of the marshmallow using a thin strip of licorice rope.
- Serve and enjoy!
