Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)
A tenderloin is a piece of the breast that is typically found in the middle of the breast bone, between the two breasts. It's the most tender part of the turkey.
While using a thermometer is the safest way to test the doneness. However, you can also tell that it's done by if it's tender and no longer pink inside. You can also pierce it with a fork and if the juices run clear, it's likely done.
Deb’s tips for the perfect dish
- When you are searing your tenderloin, remember that you just want to get a nice crust on the outside you are not trying to cook it through.
- I like to spray my crockpot with nonstick cooking spray because it makes cleanup so much easier.
- Food safety guidelines say that turkey should reach an internal temperature of 165°F before it is safe to consume. So, don't forget to check it for doneness before serving.
How to store leftovers
Refrigerate - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
Freeze - If you want to store it for longer, you can freeze your cooked tenderloin in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 3 months.
Reheat - I've found the best way to reheat turkey is to slice it and reheat it in a skillet with some butter or olive oil. You can also reheat it in the microwave, but be careful not to dry it out.
Repurpose your leftovers
You can turn your leftovers into a simple meal by using the leftovers to make sandwiches or you can add it to pastas or leftover turkey soup. I think my favorite way to turn leftover into a new main dish is to make this Turkey Pot Pie. Pot pie has always been one of my favorites!
