Instructions

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray casserole dish with non stick cooking spray, set aside.
- Cook the pasta to al dente in a large pot of salted boiling water. Reserve one cup of pasta before draining the pasta.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the pasta sauce and cream cheese.
- Next add the cooked pasta and cooked shredded chicken. Mix well to combine. You want the pasta to be super saucy. Add about a ¼ cup pasta water if needed.
- Spoon the pasta mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes until hot and bubbly.
- While the casserole is baking, add the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese to a small mixing bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and mix to combine. Set aside.
- Remove the aluminum foil from the casserole dish. Sprinkle with bread crumb and cheese mixture.
- Place casserole back in the oven under the broiler for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Watch it carefully so it doesn't burn. Serve and enjoy!

There is just one difference between the two. And, that's pasta shape. The classic version uses fettuccine noodles but chicken alfredo could use any type of noodle instead.
These two are not the same thing white sauce is also known as bechamel sauce sauce and contains milk and flour, while alfredo sauce is a cheese sauce typically made with Parmesan cheese and garlic.
Adding herbs such as basil, thyme or oregano can give the alfredo sauce more flavor. You could also add fresh garlic for even more flavor!

- I used jarred Alfredo sauce to keep this recipe simple. However, you can use heavy cream, garlic, and parmesan cheese to make your own homemade creamy alfredo sauce if you want.
- Cooking the pasta to al dente will prevent the pasta from overcooking so be sure to check the package directions for the correct timing on your pasta brand.
- For a healthier option, you could use whole wheat pasta and low-fat alfredo sauce. However, you will need to adjust the cooking time for your pasta.
- Fresh parsley makes a great garnish for this casserole because it adds a fresh flavor and a nice pop of color.
Variations
- Don't have fettuccine noodles on hand? You can use any type of pasta that you have in your pantry to avoid a trip to the grocery store.
- Do you love cheese? Add a layer of shredded mozzarella or slices of provolone cheese to the top of the casserole before you add the breadcrumbs. Then you will have a gooey cheese top to your hearty casserole.
- For a touch of heat, you can add a pinch of crushed pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the alfredo sauce.
- If you don't have rotisserie chicken on hand you can use any type of neutral or Italian seasoned pre-cooked chicken. Poached chicken would also work great in this casserole.
Storage
Refrigerate - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you don't have a lid for your casserole dish you can cover it tightly with plastic wrap to keep it fresh.
Freezer - This chicken pasta bake makes a great freezer meal! Simply prepare as directed and freeze before baking. When ready to eat, thaw overnight in the fridge and bake according to the recipe instructions.
Reheat - Reheat in the microwave or oven at 350 degrees until heated through. Add then a splash of chicken broth or cream to add moisture back into the dish if needed.
