We all know how to make french toast, right? I think it's fun to repurpose an ingredient into a new recipe and if I can work eggnog into something else? Well that works for me! This is delicious served with pure maple syrup and eggnog caramel sauce (there's that repurposing again!).

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup eggnog
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1-2 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  • Crack the eggs and whisk them together. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk well.
  • You can use sliced bread or a thick slice of french bread - whichever you'd prefer. Dip the bread into the custard mixture. If you're using thick bread, allow it to sit in the custard for a couple of minutes each side before removing.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat on the stove stop. Add the butter and when it's melted, add the french toast. Depending on the thickness of the bread, it will take 3-5 minutes for the first side to reach golden brown. Flip cook on side two until it is golden brown also. It will take a little bit less time for side two.
