  • a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix or a package Knorr leek soup mix, Knorr vegetable mix is delicious too.

Creative variations to try

  • Some people like to substitute some of the sour cream with softened cream cheese to get an even thicker, creamier dip.
  • A box of Lipton vegetable soup mix works as a great substitute for the onion soup mix if you're in a pinch.
  • Not a fan of water chestnuts? You can substitute chopped celery or add in more green onions, and you won't lose that perfect crunch!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)

What are the best dippers for Lipton spinach dip?

Honestly, you can use whatever you prefer! I like carrot sticks, celery sticks, red bell peppers, broccoli, potato chips, and pita chips. Some people like mini Naan dippers, crackers, or Pumpernickel slices.

What is the best type of mayo for spinach dip?

For a classic dip, I recommend sticking with real mayonnaise that you already have in the fridge. A cup of Hellmans is my choice, but an avocado-based mayonnaise will work too!

Can I use fat-free sour cream in this recipe?

Fat-free sour cream can make your dip a little watery. However, it will definitely do the job if it's the only type you have on hand.

Deb’s tips for the perfect dish

It's important to let the dip chill for at least two hours before serving. This allows the flavors to blend together and makes the dip even more delicious!

  • To thaw spinach properly, toss it in the fridge overnight. If you're pinched for time, microwave it using the defrost setting.
  • Use a strainer, paper towels or a clean kitchen towel to squeeze out any excess water from the thawed spinach. Otherwise, the dip can taste more watery than creamy.
  • For an A+ presentation, hollow out a small loaf of pumpernickel bread and use it as a bread bowl for serving. Save the extras for scooping!

How to store leftovers

Refrigerate—Store leftover Lipton spinach dip in an airtight container for up to four days.

Freezer—You can technically freeze spinach dip for two or three months, but cream-based dishes don't thaw very well, so I don't recommend it.

Reheat—Serve spinach dip chilled, straight out of the fridge, or let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to take off the chill.
