Reindeer Oreo Pops
Ingredients
- 24 Double Stuf Oreos or Mega Stuf Oreos
- 24-30 mini pretzels
- 24 paper straws or lollipop sticks
- 24 ounces chocolate chips
- 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 24 small red candies like mini M&Ms or Red Hots
- 48 edible eyes
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment (or wax) paper. Set aside.
- Cut (or break) the mini pretzels in half. (I've added extra pretzels to the recipe to account for pretzels that may break too small.)
- Melt the chocolate chips with one tablespoon of oil in a medium microwave-safe bowl at 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

- Slightly flatten one end of a paper straw, dip into the melted chocolate, and insert it into the cream layer of the Oreo. Place onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining Oreos and straws. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.

- Working one at a time and using the straw as a handle, dip the Oreo into the melted chocolate. (If the chocolate has thickened, heat it in the microwave again. You can add an additional tablespoon of oil to thin the chocolate further.) Allow the excess chocolate to drip off.

- Now it's time to decorate. Push the pretzels into each side of the top of the chocolate-dipped cookie. Add a red candy nose to the center, and place two edible eyes directly above the nose. Return the cookie pop to the prepared baking sheet.

- Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 with the remaining cookies.

- Place the baking sheet back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the cookie pops to fully set. Serve and enjoy!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
For this specific recipe, I used Hershey's Special Dark chocolate chips because they are my absolute favorite, but feel free to use whatever chocolate you prefer. Whether you choose dark, semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate use a high-quality product. They will make your cookie pops taste better, and a high-quality chocolate is less likely to seize as you melt it.
Nope! Once the chocolate is set, you can keep them at room temp for up to 3 days in a single layer container. But they'll last longer in the fridge or freezer (up to 3 months!) if you're making them ahead.
Isn't she adorable? I tend to go a tiny bit overboard sometimes and this seemed like the perfect time! I thought having girl and boy reindeer would make these cookies even more adorable, so here we are! To make the girl reindeer, I simply drew eyelashes on the candy eyes with an edible marker and added a bow candy sprinkle between the antlers (and yes, lady reindeer also have antlers. I looked it up to be sure!)

Deb's top tips
Be sure to pinch the tip of the straw before inserting. If the straw is too thick, the cookies will split and the top or bottom will fall off.
Let the kids help with the decorating. Sticky fingers and silly reindeer faces are part of the fun!

My young grandchildren will just love helping to make these! They are so cute. Would be great to pass out as classroom treats, but not sure if this can be done nowadays with all the rules with what you can bring with all the kids with food allergies. Otherwise, they are cute to put on a dessert table for family gatherings.
Debra Clark says
I’m so glad you love them, and you’re right—they’re such a fun little project for kids and absolutely perfect for family dessert tables, even if classroom rules make sharing a bit trickier these days.
