Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
Absolutely! Golden Oreos, Mint Oreos, Peanut Butter Oreos, Birthday Cake Oreos, or seasonal flavors all work well. Use the same amount called for in the recipe.
No. Use the whole cookie, filling and all. The creamy center adds flavor and blends perfectly into the fudge.
This recipe was developed specifically with cream cheese frosting, so I recommend following the recipe as written. The frosting creates a rich, creamy texture while keeping the ingredient list short and simple.

Deb's top Oreo cookie fudge tip
Don't crush the Oreos into fine crumbs. Skip the food processor and roughly chop the cookies instead. Those little chunks of cookie create a better texture, make the fudge look more appealing, and ensure you get bits of Oreo in every bite.
Test kitchen notes
I tested several versions of this recipe before landing on this one. Using cream cheese frosting instead of sweetened condensed milk keeps the ingredient list short, gives the fudge a creamy texture, and means you only need three ingredients to make a batch.

My grandkids will love this. They love Oreos and love cookies and cream. My first thing to make at Christmas season is my Moms English Walnut Bar. Family tradition.

Oreos and fudge! You can't lose on this treat! also easy enough for my 9 yr old boys to help out! I am always trying to get them involved in cooking or baking. The spark for cooking and baking ignited in me when I was a child because loving grandmothers taught me family recipes and sometimes even their very own secrets .. I want my children to have those fond memories to look back on.
Debra Clark says
Oreos and fudge, it can't get any better than this! Yes - your boys could totally make this for you and they would have a ton of fun! I'm glad you're introducing them to cooking. It's so much easier than people think and more fun to learn too. Enjoy Suzie!
