Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounces kielbasa sausage sliced
  • 1 cup onions diced
  • 6 cups cabbage chopped - about ½ a head of cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning or more to taste
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • cup beef stock
  • pinch of crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Slice the sausage into medallions. Sliced onions, chop cabbage, and mince the garlic.
  • Add olive oil to a large, heavy bottom skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Saute the kielbasa and brown on both sides. About 2-3 minutes each side. Remove with a slotted spoon to a plate and set aside.
  • Pour out excess grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.
  • Add the onions and cabbage to the pan—season with the steak seasoning. Saute, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. Add the garlic for the last couple of minutes. The cabbage will begin to soften and brown.
  • Add the beef stock and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally for another 7-10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • Stir in the sausage and serve.
