Apple Tea Cake Recipe

Moist, tender tea cake, perfect with coffee or tea! You'll love this elevated dessert. It's like apple pie in cake form!

Equipment

  • 1 9" springform pan

Ingredients

  • 1-¼ cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple sauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 2 cups apples peeled and chopped
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Mix Flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and apple pie spice in a medium mixing bowl. Mix well with a whisk.
  • In another medium bowl, add the vegetable oil, sugars, apple sauce, eggs, vanilla and orange juice and mix with a whisk.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine with the whisk.
  • Fold the chopped apples into the cake batter with a spoon.
  • Spray a 9” Springform Pan with baking spray (oil and flour) then pour the cake batter into the pan. Give a little shake to make sure the batter is evenly distributed.
  • Bake in the middle of the oven for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove - check if it is done using a toothpick. Only a crumb or two should remain on the stick.
  • Allow to cool for 30 minutes in the pan, on a wire rack.
  • Remove from the pan and allow to cool completely on the wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
