Equipment

  • 1 13x9 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 small cookie scoop

Ingredients

  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract
  • ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 3 cups dark chocolate chips milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips can be substituted
  • 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Assorted holiday sprinkles optional

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together the condensed milk, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract.
  • Add half of the powdered sugar, and beat on low speed. Gradually add the remaining powdered sugar and beat on low speed until a soft dough forms and the mixture is no longer sticky.
A spoonful of powdered sugar being added to a mixing bowl filled with sweetened condensed milk. Around the bowl are ingredients like peppermint extract, chocolate chips, and festive sprinkles, creating a cozy holiday baking scene.
  • Using a small cookie scoop (and your hands), roll into one-inch balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, and flatten into patties. Place into the freezer for 45 minutes.
A parchment-lined baking sheet with round peppermint filling discs being shaped and arranged by hand, ready for chilling before dipping in chocolate.
  • While the patties are in the freezer, make the chocolate dipping sauce by adding the chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Add an additional tablespoon of vegetable oil, if necessary, to reach a consistency desirable for dipping.
A bowl full of chocolate chips being prepared for melting, as a hand pours in a small cup of vegetable oil to create a smooth chocolate coating.
  • Remove the patties from the freezer, and coat them with the melted chocolate. Place a patty on a fork, and fully submerge it into the melted chocolate. Lift out and tap to remove excess chocolate. Using a toothpick, gently slide the patty from the fork back to the lined baking dish. Immediately top with holiday sprinkles.

  • Once all the patties have been coated and decorated, return to the freezer for 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to completely harden and set.
  • Remove from the freezer, serve, and enjoy!
