Rinse the rice under cold water to remove any dust and chaff.
In a large pot with a lid, bring the water to a rolling boil.
Add the butter and salt.
Add the rice and turn the heat down to a simmer. Cover and let cook for approximately 18 minutes. Do not open the lid while cooking.
Check the rice at 18 minutes. If all the water is absorbed and it looks soft, put the lid back on and remove from the heat. If there is extra water, just tilt the pan and drain it off into the sink. Allow the covered rice to sit for a few minutes.
