Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

This 15 minute copycat recipe is simple to make and a family favorite! You'll love this delicious side dish!

Equipment

  • Cast Iron Skillet

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5-6 tart apples peeled, cored, cut into ½-inch wedges (about 2 lb)
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 1 lemon substitute with bottled lemon juice

Instructions

  • Peel and core apples. Slice into ½ inch wedges. Squeeze ½ lemon overtop and give it a quick mix.
  • Melt butter in cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  • Place apple slices in the melted butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.
  • Cover and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally. Enjoy!

Notes

Slow Cooker Instructions

  1. Prepare the crockpot by spraying with nonsticking cooking spray or use a slow cooker liner - it just makes clean up a breeze!
  2. Prepare the apples as directed above. Place in sliced apples in crockpot. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Cover and cook on low for two hours.
