Taste of the Holidays
I was lucky enough to share some recipes over the Thanksgiving Holiday once again with our local news station, KSEE24 News – I shared three separate recipes, a delicious Turkey Soup with Roasted Vegetables – great use of leftover turkey and veggies.
The second recipe I shared was a delicious use of leftover sweet potatoes! This one was a real favorite – transforming leftover sweet potatoes into yummy breakfast or brunch waffles, though I confess, we’ve had this for dinner too!
The waffles are topped with an amazing Eggnog Caramel Sauce – super yummy!
But the recipe I wanted to highlight today is Turkey Tetrazzini! Since today is Christmas Eve, there might be some leftover turkey in the next couple of days, this is a recipe you will really enjoy!
Teresa Sardina of KSEE24 News, Intern Elisa B. and camera guy George Garnica all showed up at our home bright and early at 4:30am. In our first “live” spot, we describe the ingredients in the sauce. Ingredients include turkey, mushrooms, butter, milk, sherry, flour, cheese and chicken stock. It’s very simple and super flavorful!
During the show we “make” the tetrazzini and when we are filming, I realized that I had forgotten a major component of the recipe….cooking the pasta! If you watch carefully in the segment, you can see the look on my face when I realize my mistake! So just to alleviate any confusion….cook the pasta first! 🙂
Then simply pour the delicious sauce over the pasta, sprinkle on some cheese, cover and bake for 35 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until it is hot, brown & bubbly.
So when you are done, here is the meal you’ll be serving – an amazingly simple and utterly fabulous pasta dish, Turkey Tetrazzini! Now, I can’t take credit for this recipe, it’s my friend Michelle’s and she’s a fabulous cook. She shared this with me to share with you! That’s what a Taste of the Holidays is all about – giving! I hope you have an amazing holiday season!

Below I have some fun pictures from our busy morning and at the very bottom are the links for all of the live TV spots.
There were four segments from the show – you can view the remainder of the segments here –
Taste of the Holidays – 1 – We talk about the food we’re going to make & describe the ingredients
Taste of the Holidays – 3 – Showcasing the Sweet Potato Waffle Recipe
Taste of the Holidays – 4 -Enjoying a meal together and sharing what we are thankful for!
Special thanks to Teresa, Elisa & George – so much fun to work with! It was a pleasure to have you in our home and share a meal. And of course to my wonderful husband who laughs and seems enjoys all the craziness I bring to his life!
