When we were kids, my brother and I decided we wanted to have cherry pie for breakfast. When mom stepped outa the kitchen, we sliced up some pie, grabbed the ice cream and served it up. Mom came back in and said WHOA – you’re not having pie for breakfast!! But Mom, my brother said….this has fruit, bread from the pie crust and dairy from the ice cream. Mom agreed and that day we had pie. (I might add my brother is now the best Salesman I know! :D) But an Acai Bowl….this is even better (and definitely Mom approved)!

I wanted this bowl to have creaminess from the bananas, yogurt & Acai berry blend – fresh bright flavor from the delicious fresh fruit and crunchiness from the nuts and Cracklin’ Oat Bran which I picked it up at my local Vons in the cereal aisle – aisle three – lots of great choices – any of these cereals would be a delicious sweet & crunchy topping for a breakfast bowl!
This bowl is easy to put together – you’ll just take frozen bananas, yogurt and Acai berries and blend them up until creamy and pour into a bowl!
Then take your favorite fruit, slice and dice it up, add some nuts & cereal, drizzle a touch of honey and WA-LA! You have an amazing breakfast bowl!

Mixed Fruit Acai Bowl
Mixed Fruit Acai Bowl - eating healthy & clean? Here's a great way to start the day off right.
- 3/4 cup frozen Acia Berry*
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 2 frozen bananas**
- couple splashes of milk just to get everything blending or almond milk
- 1/4 cup Kellogg's Cracklin' Oat Bran
- 1/4 chopped nuts
- Assorted chopped fruit - I used apricots strawberries and cherries
- Start by chopping and dicing your fruit - set aside.
- Into your blender add the frozen Acai Berries, frozen bananas (broken into several pieces) and yogurt. Add just enough milk - a couple tablespoons or so to get the mixture moving in the blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a bowl, top with the cereal, nuts and your favorite fruits.
*If you are unable to find frozen Acai Berries - substitute with 3/4 cup frozen blueberries.
** Never heard of freezing a banana? Here’s what I do when bananas get old – rather than throwing them away, I peel them, break each one into thirds, wrap them individually and tuck them into the freezer – perfect for your morning smoothie, breakfast bowl or no churn ice cream!
